Encompass Chiropractic Staff
Dr. Kris Pollack, DC
As former professional football player with the Seattle Seahawks, Dr. Pollack is very familiar with back and joint pain. Searching for relief from his injuries he discovered chiropractic care. He quickly learned that chiropractic care was very effective and went beyond just treating aches and pains.
A native of Lake Oswego, Dr. Pollack graduated with Honors from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration. Awarded the Scholar Athlete Award of Honor from the David K. Marks foundation he continued his athletic career as a player with the Seattle Seahawks. While playing professionally he was required to undergo chiropractic care as a part of the training regime. The experience was life changing. He found pain relief and a feeling of overall well-being that helped him both on and off the field. He decided on a new career and immediately attended Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California once he retired from professional football.
Dr. Pollack's former experience with aches and pains as a daily part of life makes him a caring and compassionate healer. His desire to help those in pain motivates him to continually educate himself on the latest techniques and technology that not only benefits those in pain, but also those who understand chiropractic as a holistic care modality for prevention of back and neck pain, and as a health enhancer. His goal is to help you live pain free with an active lifestyle using an individualized protocol of proven therapies.
One of the first Chiropractic Doctors in the Northwest to use Decompression Therapy or Lightwave Therapy, he is in demand as a lecturer and speaker. For your free consultation with Dr. Pollack please call us at Encompass Chiropractic Health at 503-635-4656 and schedule a time to discuss your health enhancement needs.

Nancy DeTurk, Licensed Massage Therapist
As a part of Encompass Chiropractic since 2003, Nancy has enjoyed the opportunity to interact with our patients during many phases of their treatment, but especially enjoys her role as Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT). A graduate of the Oregon School of Massage, Nancy works closely with Dr. Pollack and Dr. Schlenker to specifically address each patient's individual treatment needs.
Nancy is trained in many types of massage including: Esalen, Shiatsu, myofascial release; lymph drainage, deep tissue techniques, and more. Specializing in deep tissue work, Nancy explains her approach to this technique. "It is not my goal to force tissues to "let go" but rather to allow them to relax and create new patterns that support and amplify health and healing. By working as a team and utilizing the receiver's breathing, a deep muscular release is achievable with little discomfort. This approach encourages deep relaxation and a sense of peace."
Nancy continues to expand her professional education with outside trainings and practice. When not working with patients, Nancy has a dedicated yoga and mediation practice. She has recently discovered her green thumb and enjoys hiking and the natural beauty of her adopted home state, Oregon.
Jean Thorson, Licensed Massage Therapist
Once you meet Jean you will find that her passion and gift for providing relaxation and wellness is noticeable in her touch as a massage therapist. Her passionate touch will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated. Jean graduated in 2004 from East West College with advanced studies in Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Therapy. Prior to massage she spent 11 years in the dental field as an assistant and eventually an office manager. Her decision to leave the dental field came after she lost her father in law who practiced dentistry in St. Helens. She wanted to do something that allowed her to work with people, providing them a benefit for their wellness. She was receiving massage while training for a marathon and it developed into a desire to go back to school and provide relaxation to those around her. Since entering school she has never looked back and loves what she does.
Jean lives a very active lifestyle. Sitting is not in her agenda of life. She loves to run with her friends, golf with her husband and take her Boston Terrier, Jet, for walks. Wellness is an important aspect in her life and she values the importance of taking care of the body we are given. You only get one life to live and she believes in living it to the fullest.
One thing is for sure, once you meet Jean you will be her friend. She has an open heart and loves to be around people. She loves what she does and looks forward to providing relaxation for you, your family and friends.
